CloseHervé Castella is responsible for PartnerRe’s third-party capital activities and the purchase of catastrophe retrocession. Mr. Castella joined PartnerRe in 1999 as Senior Underwriter in Financial Guarantee, and was appointed head of Catastrophe Research in 2004. More recently, Mr. Castella was Group Catastrophe Portfolio Manager responsible for the management of PartnerRe’s catastrophe exposure
Mr. Castella holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Geneva and is a CFA Charterholder
Dominik has more than ten years of reinsurance and investment banking experience with a particular focus on alternative capital in the insurance industry. His transaction experience encompasses traditional fixed income and private equity, catastrophe bonds, reinsurance sidecars, contingent capital and other structured finance transactions in both life and non-life insurance. In his most recent role, he served as Vice President at Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. with global coverage responsibilities in the insurance and reinsurance sector. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, he served as Director at UBS Securities LLC, also focused on the insurance industry. Dominik started his career at Munich Re, working in the company’s alternative capital team in Munich and the US.
He holds a Master of Sciences degree in Financial Economics, majoring in finance, economics and econometrics from Maastricht University in The Netherlands.
Philipp Kusche joined TigerRisk Partners in April 2016 as Partner and Global Head of Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) and Capital Solutions. He has been a leading figure in the ILS sector for well over 15 years.
Tiger is a leading advisor on ILS structures, specifically having played a lead role in many of the sidecar structures developed over recent years.
Prior to joining Tiger, Philipp spent 14 years at Swiss Re, where he most recently was the Head of their ILS Structuring and Origination team in New York, responsible for and instrumental in creating and executing billions of dollars’ worth of CAT bonds, sidecars, contingent capital structures, and other alternative capital products for clients globally.
He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the Bauhaus University in Germany and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute in Zurich (ETH). His Master’s Thesis, supported by Credit Suisse, was on public-private partnerships and their potential in Switzerland.
Jean-Louis Monnier is Head of Retro & ILS Structuring within the recently formed Alternative Capital Partners group at Swiss Re.

The Retro Structuring team is a pillar of Swiss Re's nat cat strategy, supporting growth via the issuance of sidecars and cat bonds to the capital markets as well as the purchase of traditional retrocession covers.
Jean-Louis joined Swiss Re Capital Markets in 2002, developing asset and liability management solutions for Life insurance companies before specialising on the structuring and placement of insurance risks into the capital markets. Prior to joining Swiss Re, he worked in the derivatives solutions groups of Gen Re Securities, CIBC World Markets and Société Générale. He is a graduate from ESSEC business school in France.
